How is that as the years go by kids these days in high school seem to be getting a lot worse. I have noticed a change in teens this couple of years since i graduated and how bad things seem to getting. Teens are either doing drugs, drinking or having sex on school property. I used to remember that the people i graduated with werent as bad. Yes of course there were some drugs in school and fights that broke out, but never have i heard of teens having sex on school property and during school hours. I worry every day as my younger brother who is a junior this year goes to school in those conditions. But what is going on with our youth these days? Why havent the parents, or school board done anything? You think that by rewarding them with field trips to the movies will solve any thing. I think we are just ignoring the real issue and letting more teens get pregnant and or die.
I agree with you, since my girlfriend is still in high school I hear from her about the freshman and sophmores from her school and they just seem to get dumber by the hour, not mentioning the fact that most of them drink frequently and do drugs.
And to be honest I blame the parents and the school system because in most of the cases the only thing they try to do with kids is have them locked up at school as long as they can, rather than teaching them life lessons or at least to have safe sex (becuase as far as I know, they don't even teach what sex is at school)

I also blame the school and parents. Most of it falls on the parents though. They should know what their kids are doing at school and if they behave badly and irresponsibly then the appropriate punishment should be given to them. The school does need to monitor the kids as well and involve the parents in school life more. It seems that parents are starting to care less and less about their children’s futures and this is more apparent in poor communities. Children are not getting the encouragement and discipline they need from home so when they go to school they act like animals, and no one does anything about it. Technology is also a bad influence for kids. I remember when only a few kids had cell phones and if they were seen they were taken away. Now even teachers are on their phones during class. Television does not teach these kids morals either. It just shows them that it’s all right to act this way and parents don’t monitor what their kids are watching and by not monitoring they are letting them follow the example hat is set through television shows. It this is the way kids today are acting can you imagine how they will raise their kids? I think that children are just going to get worse especially if technological advancements continue to arise, which I am sure they will. Parents need to take back control from their children and start being actual parents!

I would have to agree with you about how high school students and even junior high students are getting out of hand. Like you mentioned when i graduated there were some students that hung out with the bad crowd but the majority of them werent. I think that the parents have a lot to do with the students actions because they dont enforce for their children to behave properly enough. I understand that sometimes its not all the parents fault but i believe that they should be on top of the actions that their children are doing especially at school. School is supposed to be a place to get an education not to get envolved into a bad crowd that will affect them later in life.

I agree, my sister is barley going to be a junior and she tells me what goes on in her school. Students now-a-days are slackers, mostly because of drugs, parties, technology, and even parents. I say parents as well because parents don't seem to care as much as back then. I am lucky to have a strict mom, she saved me from all the harm i could've put upon myself if i had done what student are doing today. I also didn't have a cell phone in high school so i was more focused in class. I'm not saying that students in high school shouldn't have a cell phone, i just think they should have a station in all schools where students drop off their phones and can only pick them up after school or if they have early release.

Aurora you have a good point there. Today high school is very different from which it was back when my parents went to school. In my opinion people are loosing respect towards society. There is a lot of rebellion going on. My mother and father speak of the great high school years, but what i remember most is all the fighting picking and drama. If i had a choice to go back to high school i would not do it. I see high school students have to much power and are no longer being strictly enforced to follow rules and dress code.

yeah, the kids these days aren't no where near as well mannered or controlled as when i was in high school. As a tutor, the students usually tell some of things they do in the school just because im closer to their age group than the teachers, and think i might be able to relate. I'm usually surprised by the stories, and usually dont know how to respond to them since i never saw anything nearly as crazy as what they say.
